Observation: After three months, there seems to be a very slow growth of, what appears to be, black mold. The wanter has not been fully absorbed by the cardboard.
It is questionable if there is bacterial growth starting. As, after opening the lid, a very foul smell was emitted and an audible popping noise could be heard. It was clear there were gasses forming in the ‘fermentation’, typical of the decay process.
